About Turf Shield
Virgil Ryan (Virg) is the president and founder of Turf Shield. As a long time professional in the window film industry, SWS has a primary focus on solar, safety, and decorative window film treatments, Turf Shield is focused on protection from the harmful hot spots from the sun reflection coming off the glass of a home or building.
Turf Shield was created and has directly risen from the many and continuous inquiries coming into SWS for the need of the protection of artificial turf and landscaping along with general reduction of the intense solar heat being reflected onto other surfaces therefore causing damage and injury. SWS rose to the challenge and Turf Shield was born!
We have worked on finding a solution to these issues for a couple years and have been able to put together a selection of a few great products that have displayed great success over the last few years of testing!
Why Is My Turf Melting?
If you have (or are thinking about having) artificial grass installed, then you may very well experience the issue of turf burn!
This is due to the hot spots created by the reflection of the sun off of your windows onto your new lawn and/or artificial turf. The solar energy is too great and therefore your new lawn or landscaping can be damaged.
The temperature of these hot spots can get so high that they destroy anything they touch. It’s increasingly common for double pane and low-e windows to melt synthetic turf, vinyl siding and even cause natural grass to catch fire. Artificial turf will begin to melt at around 175 degrees Fahrenheit. We have also seen damage to vehicles and personal injuries sustained from a burn from coming into direct contact with a hot spot!
You can protect your artificial turf and your loved ones by having us apply our Turf Shield product to your windows in order to lower the temperature of the hot spot to a level below the threshold of damage.
